Juarez Newsome
Board Member/Officials Coordinator
Juarez became a Board Member after multiple years of providing “sweat labor” during the annual Palm Desert LAX Classic. Guess he figured he might as well make it official! An accomplished college/professional level game official who’s quick to laugh. He’s taken charge of the scheduling of officials for all of our EMW Foundation events. Proficient in Spanish (great for late night food orders), Juarez can normally be found at the Cate School where he is the Colin Day Chair of Cross-Curricular Studies, Student Activities Director, and History Teacher with an emphasis on US & European History, AP Government, African American History, and various electives. He’s also the Offensive Coordinator for the Cate Football team. When he’s not driving our president crazy you’ll find him walking his dog, Sable, or working with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Carpinteria area. He recently became a board member of the Uganda Lacrosse Foundation.
